It’s crucial to know which pigments (the mineral or compound that makes a colour in paint) to choose when mixing paint for that perfect orange, violet, and green. But it doesn’t end there.

The most important skill you can have when painting is the confidence to mix tertiary and neutral colours. From the soft warm greys to the dark intense blacks (which are mixed, not used from a tube), these more sophisticated colours are what make great works of art. Just pull out your art books and take a look.

Here’s feedback from Scott:

I just attended the Colour Workshop in June and once again, learnt things that changes the way I look at art – not just my own work but all art – Carmel, as usual, had everything at hand and each time she explained some of the workings of colour, she had an example on hand to make the learning process easier. So glad I found this art space – well done Carmel. P.S. I now love ‘grey’.

It’s responses like this that keeps us passionate about what we do and our ability to provide a supportive arts program where adults can re-engage and develop their creativity in a relaxed & stimulating environment. We’re all entitled to explore our creativity and to have a solid skills-based training is a great advantage when expanding into ideas and projects.
