This is a follow up course to Painting for Beginners. Painting II takes students to the next step making a close study of a self chosen Master Painting. Because painting is a multi-layered, complicated process it’s of high value to analyse and study a master painting. With this approach the tone and structure of the painting is fairly easy to emulate and then more time can be spent focussing on colour and brushwork which is what we consider the heart and soul of a painting especially when heightened with a solid, logical underlying structure.

Below is the progression of past students that have taken this course.

October – November 2023

Final student works

October – November 2022

Students can select an artist and together we nut out how the painting was constructed, the brushwork and colour mixes. Students can use acrylic and/or oil paint.
