Scratch Art Space is an artist initiative founded and managed by Artist Carmel Byrne. Our goal is to develop a creative business model that’s financially viable and sustainable as a long term business option for artists.

Located in a warehouse in Marrickville we have three primary income streams: six resident art studios; an art gallery; and an education atelier for the general public where tutored and untutored groups meet and learn the foundations of fine art through skills-based classes.

We aim to create a self-sufficient micro-economy where resident artists pay commercial studio rents that are off-set by employment teaching art workshops and courses.
