Sydney Exhibition

Natalie O’Loughlin

Opens Thursday 1 September / 6 – 8pm
Runs 1 – 11 September 2022

We’re delighted to host Natalie O’Loughlin’s first solo exhibition. Natalie (she/ her) is a multidisciplinary designer living and working on Gadigal Country (Sydney), the unceded land of the Eora Nation, her practice is an exploration in materiality, intimacy and futility. Favouring ceramics, textiles and fine metal, she often creates sculptural forms as contemplative experimentations.

Natalie is currently interested in the ceramic vessel, considering the limitations and associations as objects of utility. Clay is provocative and the practice of ceramics is doused in reward and disappointment, this tension forces her to adapt to the medium and its inherent alchemy. Her vessels are an exercise in seeing failure as potential and reconsider the intrinsic value of function, all while tempting fate.

Natalie holds a Diploma of Fashion and Design (2012), and a Bachelor of Design, UNSW Art & Design (2019).
