Drawing II / Urban Landscape Project is a follow up to our Drawing for Beginners Course. We begin with a project based 7 week course focussed on an urban landscape on Sydney Harbour. Urban landscapes provide an opportunity to draw structure within the landscape which is a great way for beginner drawing students to segue into the broad aspects of landscape.

For this drawing course we spend the first day on-site in a Sydney Harbour location learning how artists make studies that are meaningful and useful as reference material for works created and developed in the studio.

Weeks 2 – 7 in this course are spent in the studio with experienced artist Carmel Byrne to help develop ideas and to experiment further with materials and scale in drawing.

Students must provide their own materials for this course and we’ll back up in the studio with any materials that will help extend your vocabulary in drawing along with scale and techniques.

Tutor Carmel Byrne had a studio at this location in the mid 90s and it’s still a very quiet, out of the way location that has close access to the harbour with views of the Harbour Bridge.
