Analogue photography & poetry

Opens Wednesday 19 April 2017
Runs Thu 20 – Sun 30 April

Nomads is an exhibition of analogue photography and poetry, created within an extended period of time in which the artist was travelling in the Mediterranean. These photographs are vibrantly coloured and spacious, mimicking that sense of liberty and joyousness central to living in movement amongst nature. The exhibition draws attention to the discrepancies between physical and virtual environments, and the necessary transformation of earthly experience within digital image economies of the twenty-first century.

The title reflects both the content in this exhibition and a person’s experience of this content. That being a fluid mode of viewing that oscillates between coded behaviours associated with navigating physical and virtual space. As much as the word ‘nomadic’ has long been a maxim for ways of living in the world, it has also become a prevailing technique by which we encounter images today.
